Oichat takes user privacy and the protection of personal information very seriously. When you use our products or services, we may collect and use information about you. We hope that this Privacy Policy shows you how we collect, use and protect this information when you use our products or services. This Privacy Policy applies to the Oichat Platform. Before using our products or services, please read and thoroughly understand this Privacy Policy and use the products or services after confirming that you understand and agree to it. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, you should immediately stop using our Platform Services. Once you start using our various products or services, it means that you fully understand and agree to this Privacy Policy.

• Definitions

  • You: “You” in this Agreement refers specifically to the user of Oichat's products or services.
  • Personal information: Personal information in this Agreement refers to any information recorded electronically or by other means that can be used alone or in combination with other information to identify a specific natural person or to reflect the activities of a specific natural person. Personal information covered by this Privacy Policy includes: basic information (including a person's name, date of birth, gender, and e-mail address); personal images, voices, and images; network identification information (including system account numbers, IP addresses, e-mail addresses, and passwords associated with the foregoing); and personal property information (transaction and consumption records, and information about virtual property such as gifts).

• Information we will collect

  • Information will be collected using the application

    • (Required) When you create an Oichat account, we collect the following personal information: email address, gender, age, nationality, native language and the language you are learning. This helps us to provide you with a better service and a better user experience.
    • (Required) Unique device identifier data, used to verify whether the device is a commonly used device, to avoid your account being stolen by others.
    • (Required) In order to protect your account, network, operation and system security during the use of your account, and to prevent website fraud, Trojan viruses, etc., our servers will automatically record information sent from your cell phone (“Log Data”). The Log Data will include a variety of relevant information (e.g., mobile carrier, device model, operating system and version, client version, Android ID, software package name, device settings, processes and unique device identifiers, hardware and software characteristics, etc.) and information related to the location of the device (e.g., IP address).

  • What we want you to authorize us to do

    • (Optional)When you turn on the camera permission, you can use the camera to take photos or videos, upload, share and use other functions. When you need to take a photo to upload avatar or take a photo to post graphic content, we will ask for access to the camera, you can choose to grant or refuse, please note that even if you refuse, it does not affect the use of other functions of Oichat, we will give you a default avatar or you can post text content, please note that even if you allow access to the camera, we will only click the above functions in the client if you actively click on it. We will only access information through the camera if you actively click on the above features in the client.
    • (Optional) You can use the microphone for voice chat by enabling microphone access. Please note that even if you allow microphone access, we will only get voice messages through the microphone when you actively click the IM microphone icon in the client.
    • (Optional) When you upload/update your account avatar or post graphic content, we need access to your device storage/albums in order to post images and text messages. If you refuse to enable the above permissions, we will not be able to provide you with the above features. Please note that this does not affect the use of other Oichat features.

• In accordance with relevant laws and regulations and national standards, we do not need to ask for your authorization to collect or use your personal information in the following cases:

  • Directly related to the investigation, prosecution, adjudication and enforcement of sentences for crimes;
  • To protect your or another individual's life, property, reputation, and other significant legal rights and interests, but it is difficult to obtain the person's consent;
  • The personal information collected is disclosed by you to the public on your own initiative;
  • Collecting personal information from lawful publicly disclosed information, such as lawful news reports, open government information, and other channels;
  • Necessary for the conclusion and performance of the contract at your request;
  • Necessary for maintaining the safe and stable operation of the product or service provided, e.g., detecting and disposing of malfunctions in the product or service;
  • When the results of academic research or descriptions are made available to the outside world for the purpose of statistical or academic research in the public interest, the personal information contained in the results is de-identified;
  • Other cases stipulated by laws and regulations.

• Information storage

  • Methods of information retention

    • We will store your information in secure ways, including local storage (e.g., data caching within an application), databases, and server logs.
    • In general, we will only keep your personal information for as long as is necessary to fulfill the purpose of our services or under the conditions stipulated by laws and regulations. You have the option to delete your data history and other personal information that you provide and generate when using our services. When you delete any personal information, we will immediately delete the corresponding data.

  • Managing and retaining your information

    • Legal Obligations and Issues: We retain your information for legal reasons, such as when we are legally obligated to retain data, enforce and prevent violations of our Terms, or when necessary to protect rights, property, and users.
    • Operational Retention Requirements: We do not retain your messages while providing the Services (except in the limited circumstances described above), so your messages are deleted from our servers as soon as they are sent. Your public information will be retained until you delete your account and exit the agreement, including your profile information and the moments you post. All such data will be deleted or anonymized.

  • Data transfer from other countries

    • Oichat is a global language exchange platform. Data will be transferred to a third country outside your country/region. The data transfer has been authorized by law and is handled appropriately and securely. Such data can be made available for your inspection upon request./li>

  • Personal information retention

    • Oichat will obtain the user's consent to the retention of personal information when the user registers as a member, and Oichat will retain the personal information for a specified period of time in accordance with the provisions of the law, and will not use the information for any other purpose under any circumstances.
    • For the pictures you upload/post on Oichat, we will use real-time content filtering technology + manual review, and review the content of the pictures you publicly post at irregular intervals in the future.

• Information security

  • Data Protection

    • We use industry-wide recognized technical and organizational measures to protect your data security from potential risks, such as unauthorized access, unauthorized browsing, modification or distribution, and loss, deletion or misuse.
    • In order to protect your personal data from unauthorized access by third parties during transmission, we will use SSL and TLS encryption to protect data transmission when necessary. For some more sensitive data (such as user passwords, etc.), we will use multiple encryption methods for transmission and storage, which is the standard encryption procedure for online and mobile services.

  • Safety incident handling measures

    • Once a security incident such as leakage, damage, or loss of personal information occurs, we will activate the emergency plan to prevent the security incident from expanding. After a security incident occurs, we will promptly inform you of the basic situation of the security incident and the disposal and remedial measures we will or have taken through push notifications, emails, etc. If it is difficult to inform users one by one, we will issue a warning through announcements, etc.

  • How you manage your information

    • You can find your status in [Discover] and [Delete status data].
    • You can find the relevant conversation records between you and your friends in [Msg] and access and delete them.
    • You can choose to cancel your account in the app. To do this, click Mine->Setting->Account and security->Account deletion in the app. You can view the specific steps at Account Cancellation Guide. Once you choose to delete your account, you will not be able to reactivate your account or retrieve any content or information you have added.
    • In the process of providing services, you may need to enable some device permissions, such as camera, photo album, microphone, etc., but these are not necessary.

• How we use information data

  • We strictly abide by laws and regulations and agreements with users, and use the information collected in this privacy policy to provide you with better services.
  • The user's public information includes name, age, profile picture, and country. We will not display your specific location information, and will never display your registered email address.
  • Device information: We will receive and record your device information (such as operating system and version, device model, client version, software package name, device settings unique device identifier, and software and hardware feature information), as well as device location information (such as IP address) based on the specific permissions you grant during software installation and use.

• Community Guidelines

  • We have developed Community Guidelines, which clearly states that we do not want the service to be abused. Although we try our best to double-check all images uploaded by users, there are still omissions. If you find any content that violates the community guidelines during use, please provide feedback through the reporting service in the app, or contact us by email: [email protected], and we will deal with the content and users that violate the community guidelines.

• Child Safety Policy

  • We have formulated a child safety policy, please read it carefully and comply with it: Child Safety Policy It clearly states that we strongly prohibit content related to children. Although we try our best to conduct a double review of all pictures uploaded by users, including real-time machine review and manual review, there are still omissions.
